Yevgeniy (“Eugene”) R. Semenov, MD, MA is a board-certified dermatologist and Assistant Professor in Dermatology at Harvard Medical School with extensive experience in clinical informatics, health economics, and public health research. His research interests include epidemiology of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer with an emphasis on improving outcomes and treatment selection for patients with advanced disease.
Mia is currently an associate pathologist in the Division of Dermatopathology of the Department of Pathology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and instructor in pathology at Harvard Medical School. She completed residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at BWH, where she also served as chief resident, and fellowship in dermatopathology at Mass General Brigham.
I am an attending dermatologist interested in disorders of pigmentation and in racial and ethnic differences in skin disease. In addition to seeing patients with pigmentary disorders, I am also actively involved in a number of basic scientific and clinical research projects related to dyschromia and basic melanocyte biology

I am working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Semenov Lab of Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, starting from Sep 2021. Prior to that, I received my PhD degree from University of Texas at Dallas in Computer Science in Aug 2021.
Bojan is a postdoctoral fellow at Semenov Lab. His work is focused on developing AI-driven pipelines for detecting biomarkers associated with clinical outcomes of melanoma patients. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from ETH Zurich, working on data systems for managing and debugging AI workflows. Bojan has done internships at Microsoft, Oracle, and Logitech. Yilan (Elain) Wang is a postdoc at the Semenov lab. Her work focuses on primary prediction of rare melanomas and immune-related adverse events using germline and clinical data. She received her PhD in Biological and Biomedical Sciences with a secondary field in Computational Science and Engineer at Harvard University. Her previous work involves developing computational methods and pipelines to understand the genetic basis of human evolution and epilepsy. She has also done an internship in digita
Christopher is a medical student in the BS/MD 3/4 Program at the John Sealy School of Medicine, University of Texas Medical Branch with a B.S. in Honors Biomedical Sciences. He has been interested in immunotherapy since starting his research journey at 16 years old. He is currently working with Dr. Semenov as a clinical research fellow. His research interests include melanoma, cutaneous toxicities, and acne. In his free time, he plays the piano, works out, and explores new places with friends.
Debby Cheng is a medical student at Harvard Medical School with a B.A. in Psychology from Princeton University. As a clinical research fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Semenov, she investigates disorders of pigmentation and melanoma. Outside of her academic work, Debby enjoys cooking for family and friends and participating in dance classes.
Sara attended UCLA where she studied neuroscience and French literature. There, she joined a glioblastoma lab where she first discovered her passion for immune therapy research. After graduating in 2020, she began medical school at Boston University. Sara worked clinically with Dr. Semenov through a research year from 2023-2024. She is currently a fourth year medical student. Her hobbies include cooking, baking, and anatomical color pencil drawing.
Andrew is a second-year medical student at Harvard Medical School. His research interests include early detection methods for melanoma and how the skin microbiome can be leveraged to treat dermatologic conditions. Andrew completed his B.A. in Biochemistry & Cell Biology at Rice University and M.Ed. at National University.
Chuck is currently pursuing his master's in biomedical informatics from Harvard Medical School. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the College of William & Mary. His academic focus encompasses cancer pathology, population health, and the utilization of data science and machine learning for clinical decision-making. Outside of his professional endeavors, Chuck has an interest in reading mystery novels, playing the violin, and engaging in recreational soccer.
Hilda Hao is a second-year Master’s student in Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School. She holds dual B.S. degrees in Bioinformatics from Zhejiang University and the University of Edinburgh. Her previous research explored transcriptomics in lung cancer and protein dynamics in breast cancer. Currently, her research in Dr. Semenov’s lab focuses on studying immunotherapy in melanoma, specifically on genomics of immune-related adverse events.
Emma is a fourth-year medical student at Harvard Medical School. Her research interests include the epidemiology of melanoma and further advancements in therapy. She is also interested in enhancing equity and access in dermatology. In her free time she enjoys watching standup comedy, exploring coffee shops, and spending time with friends.
Matthew received his B.S. in Biology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and is a medical student at the University of Nevada, Reno. Matthew is taking a gap year to pursue an M.S. in Epidemiology and Clinical Research at Stanford University and learn about Dermatology in the Semenov Lab. His research interests include skin longevity and cosmetics use-related adverse events.
Baraa Hijaz is a 4th year MD/MBA candidate at Harvard Medical School who is passionate about the responsible integration of tools leveraging artificial intelligence in dermatology, and with clinical interests in complex medical and inpatient dermatology. Outside of medicine, he enjoys soccer, snowboarding, and serving as president of the Chess Club at Harvard Business School.
Crystal is a 4th MD student at the Kaiser Permanente School and a Master's student in the Stanford Clinical Informatics Management program. She graduated from MIT, where she studied biology. She also studied briefly at the Shanghai Theatre Academy and completed the HMS Media and Medicine storytelling program. Crystal is interested in predictive analytics to better identify patients who would benefit from immunotherapy. More generally, she is interested in equitable AI development and deployment.
Olivia Burke completed her third year of medical school at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine before undertaking a year-long research fellowship focused on advancements in melanoma therapy. She has a strong interest in complex medical dermatology and quality improvement. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer, teaching Pilates, and traveling.
Cameron received his B.S. in Wildlife Biology from the University of California, Davis and is currently taking a gap year to apply for medical school and learn dermatology as a part of the Semenov Lab. His research interests include melanoma and immune therapy. During his free time, he enjoys birdwatching, collecting clothing, and tea mixology.
